So there were some things there in those clips you that expected to happen and some things that you didn’t expect to happen.
But one thing I hope you were expecting from them was something good and when I was looking for clips on youtube to use every time I found a ‘what happens next’ clip I watched expecting it to be something good.
Expectations are odd things because we find ourselves expecting in all kinds of different ways.
We have good expectations and we have bad expectations
For example on Christmas morning you expect a good present
or perhaps on Friday the 13th you expect something bad to happen
As many of you know I’m a Christian and so I believe in God and I don’t know how many of you do and how many of you don’t but I wonder if you did what you would expect of God.
For example some people expect God to be someone who fixes everything
Others expect him to do good things in their lives
Some people may even expect God to give them good things
One thing I believe as a Christian is that God has a plan for my life and I expect that plan to be good because the bible says ‘I know the plans I have for you, they are plans for good and not plans to hurt you. I will give you hope and a good future’ (Jeremiah 29:11)
For me this means that I try and see the good in things that happen and so if I’m having a really rubbish day I know that there is something good coming.
And that’s what I want to leave you with this morning,
If you’re having a really rough time at school at the moment then it wont last forever and I want to encourage you expect something good to happen soon.
As a Christian I believe that God listens to us and we can talk to Him when we’re finding things difficult and so perhaps some of you guys will want to talk to God?
For those of you don’t want to there’s plenty of people around school that you can talk to about difficult times. (Peer mentors, teachers, class mates)
Thanks for listening if you want to chat about anything I’ve said then when you see me around school just catch me and I’d love to hear what you have to say.
